Biographical Information:
Rev. Sunday Jide Komolafe, is a respected thought leader known for crafting requisite strategic vision to achieve organizational goals.
Before coming to Cornerstone Christian Center, he was founder and executive director of Center for Christian Renewal and Advancement (www.cra.org.ng) where he was leading church seminars, consulting with episcopal-level church leaders, and providing expertise in systemic solutions analysis for churches facing growth barriers, planning a multi-site strategy, transitioning through interim seasons or planning new facilities.
He also founded SK Optimal Solutions Inc., a leading business management consulting practice serving clients across Nigeria. Working in all major sectors of the economy and levels of government; the focus of the company is on creating and managing change in organizations by formulating and implementing customer focused strategies (www.skoptimalsolutions.com).
He can be described in a tripartite classification—missionary, scholar, and churchman. As a missionary, he has had extensive cross-cultural experience, having served in Hong-Kong, South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Bangkok, New Zealand, and Australia.
As a scholar, he is a seasoned educator with over 39 years of teaching experience. He was professor of world religions at the University of Phoenix, Southern California Campus. He has served on the faculty of West African Theological Seminary, Lagos-Nigeria, as professor of ministry and theology and founding director of Urban Missions and Holistic Ministries. He is currently an adjunct professor at International Leadership University (ILU), Lagos-Nigeria. He continues to serve as visiting professor of African studies and intercultural education at the University of California, Los Angeles – USA.
As a churchman Dr. Komolafe has published articles widely on issues related to church and mission some of which include “The Changing Face of Christianity: Revisiting African Creativity” (2004); “Beyond Triumphalism: Challenges Facing the Nigerian Church Today” (2005); “The Church in Africa and the Question of Relevance” (2006); and “Christ, Church, and the Cosmos: A Missiological Reading of Paul’s Epistle to the Ephesians” (2007). He has recently authored a seminal study on the Nigerian church, The Transformation of African Christianity: Development and Change in the Nigerian Church (Langham, 2013).
Although born and raised in the Apostolic Church of Nigeria, Dr. Komolafe has been involved with a variety of church traditions over the past 27 years. He is a practitioner whose interest is in promoting the spiritual health and vitality of the Body of Christ by assisting church leaders assess, articulate and align their vision to God’s purpose for the Church. His apostolic mandate has taken him to many countries, working with leaders across Africa, New Zealand, Australia, the US.
In addition to pastoring, his other services include: keynote presentations at major meetings, seminars and workshops, training courses, and ongoing consultation/coaching. He is available for training seminars on various topics related to leadership, values, mission, vision, strategy, church plant, church renewal, small groups, practical ministry skills, and pastoral functions.
